Employees at HECK! Have Been Encouraged to CHECK!

Caring for our team extends beyond the workplace, which is why we’ve been offering free workplace health checks to employees at HECK! HQ.

The initiative is driven by our Co-Founder, Jamie Keeble, who has a deeply personal connection to the cause. Having battled testicular cancer at just 24 years old, Jamie is passionate about raising awareness and encouraging others to take charge of their health. His vision for the health checks includes targeting preventable conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease and cancers like testicular, prostate, breast and ovarian cancer.

The health checks offered at HECK! include a range of simple but vital tests and measurements, including: a lifestyle questionnaire, measurements of height, weight and waist, blood pressure readings and blood tests to measure cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

“We were really delighted how the health checks were taken up” comments Jamie Keeble, who in particular has been spearheading a campaign for men to CHECK! After his own personal experience of having testicular cancer. “We have now rolled it out across the company and are having regular visits by the screening company. Health checks can save lives. They can prevent people from developing largely preventable diseases, such as heart disease, cancer, Type 2 diabetes and liver disease,"

The program has already shown its value. Robert Rough, HECK’s occupational health lead, was one of the many employees who participated. “I myself have already made an appointment with my GP to follow up on some of the recommendations from the screening. The two days were really successful and all the slots were booked up. We’ll be rolling the screening across the rest of the company over the next few months.”

Our commitment to health doesn’t stop with our team. In November, during Men’s Health Month, we rebranded our popular chicken sausages as CHECK! to raise awareness of testicular cancer and other preventable diseases. The campaign raised an impressive £20,000 for Cahonas, a charity dedicated to testicular cancer education and awareness.

The HECK! health checks and CHECK! campaign have already made a tangible impact, with customers and employees alike being inspired to take their health seriously. Some individuals have been signposted to their GPs for follow-ups, underscoring the life-saving potential of these initiatives.
