Ellie & Ben’s visit to John Warner School

Young Gun Ellie Keeble from HECK Food visited the John Warner School on 11 October. Ellie was accompanied by her colleague Ben Stones. Their presentation and workshop was attended by 20 of the school’s year 10 Hospitality students.

During the session the students were able to ask questions about the food industry, how a business operates, and enjoy tasting the sausages! They learnt about the variety of opportunities within the food industry and what can be achieved through determination, talent and hard work.

The students were able to relate their studies to a variety of different aspects from, the presentation and will be able to use this experience to enhance their projects.

Michelle Jaggs, Hospitality teacher and Head of Year 10, is hoping to arrange a return visit to work with other year groups and allow the students to benefit even more from this real life experience.

Nigel Cook, Assistant Headteacher, said, “It is great that Ellie and Ben travelled from Yorkshire to share their experiences and support the education of our students. Some of the students have already indicated that they would like to pursue a career in the Food Industry and today has given them even more incentive.”

If you would like HECK to come along to your school, please get in touch. We can either organise a cooking session and can tailor our talk to the relevant age and interest, whether it be food or enterprise. Please email Ellie Keeble at ellie@heckfood.co.uk
