We recently returned to Swinton Estate for another incredible Nourish Climate Action Day, where our team got hands-on with conservation, learned from industry experts and saw how nature-based solutions tackle climate change and restore biodiversity.
The H.E.C.K. Care Code is at the heart of everything we do, caring for our health, environment, community and spreading kindness. Days like the Nourish Climate Action Day at Swinton Estate are the perfect example of putting those values into action.
HECK! team members Becky, Angela, Claudia, Mel, Calum and Amy kicked off the morning with a hedge laying session at the Swinton Bivouacs, giving us the chance to reconnect with the land and see sustainable forestry practices in action. Afterwards, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Deer Shed, reflecting on the morning and sharing ideas with fellow participants.

In the afternoon, we learned from industry leaders about practical steps businesses can take to combat climate change and restore biodiversity. Andy Howard from CSX Carbon shared insights on carbon data across the supply chain, while Ros Evans from the Woodland Trust highlighted the importance of recording and protecting veteran and ancient trees. Our team member Amy supported Ros in adding a new tree to the Ancient Tree Inventory, helping preserve the estate’s natural heritage.

Swinton Estate’s Nourish Partnership goes beyond tree planting. It helps businesses achieve carbon neutrality and meet biodiversity commitments through initiatives like wildlife corridors, soil health improvements and verified Carbon Plus credits. Partners see real, measurable outcomes: enhanced habitats, cleaner water and greater ecosystem resilience.
For us at HECK!, this aligns perfectly with our Care Code. By engaging in projects like Nourish, we can contribute to environmental solutions while gaining inspiration to bring sustainable practices into our own operations.
Returning to Swinton reminded us that small steps create big changes. Every hedge laid, tree recorded and wildlife corridor created supports biodiversity, reduces carbon emissions and safeguards the planet for future generations.
A huge thank you to Swinton Estate for hosting another impactful day. We’re proud to play our part and look forward to continuing to put the H.E.C.K. Care Code into practice, both at work and in the wider environment.
