We love a good April Fools’ joke at HECK!, and this year was no exception. But here’s the real question… how would you feel about HECK! and Greggs collaborating to make a chicken sausage roll?
If you spotted what we got up to in Leeds yesterday, you’ll know we didn’t just keep this April Fools’ joke to socials. We took things straight to the streets of Leeds, right outside Greggs shops, to see what people made of it.
Pink carpet? Rolled out.
Pink bags? Of course.
A batch of very convincing HECK x Greggs sausage rolls? Ready to go.
The chefs at HECK! did a fabulous job with our sausage rolls recipe. We’re talking golden, flaky pastry, hugging juicy, seasoned chicken filling. This was the kind of sausage roll that makes you want another…and another.
The reactions as people came across us on the streets were priceless. People did double takes on their lunch break, others asked outright if they’d missed a new launch, some cottoned on straight away, and a few looked quietly hopeful it might actually be real. Even the Greggs staff came out to see what was happening, and who could blame them?
The street quickly became full of curious onlookers, taking photos on the pink carpet, sharing discoveries with friends, and getting fully caught up in the moment.
Of course, this isn’t our first time shaking things up for April Fools’. From HECK! Matcha Chipolatas to our Nando’s-style chicken sausages, we’ve always loved teasing bold, slightly outrageous flavours. This year was no different, and it’s safe to say people are still talking about it.
At HECK!, we’ve never been shy about trying something a bit different. And while this might have started life as an April Fools’, it’s definitely got people talking.
So now we’re wondering… Is this one better left as a joke? Or is there something in it?
