Ingredients (Serves 2)

4 HECK! Steak & Butter burgers

2 St Pierre, Seeded brioche burger buns

4 slices burger cheese

1 large tomato, sliced

4 bacon rashers

1 large white onion
-
2 tbsp BBQ sauce

A handful of lettuce leaves

1 tbsp vegetable oil

Salt & black pepper (optional)
Method

Peel the onion and cut 2 thick rounds (about 1–1.5cm thick), keeping each slice whole. Heat a frying pan over medium-low heat with a little oil and gently fry the onion slices for 8–10 minutes, turning carefully until softened, golden and lightly caramelised. Remove and keep warm.

In the same pan, fry the bacon rashers over medium heat until crisp and golden, then set aside on kitchen paper.

Cook the HECK! Steak & Butter burgers in a frying pan for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through. In the final minute of cooking, place a slice of burger cheese on each burger and allow it to melt.

Slice and lightly toast the St Pierre burger buns until golden.

To build the burger, layer the bottom bun with lettuce and tomato, add the cheesy HECK! Steak & Butter burger, top with the thick fried onion slice, crispy bacon, and a generous drizzle of BBQ sauce, then finish with the top bun.

Serve immediately with fries, slaw, or onion rings for the full Texas BBQ experience.
