TAGLI-ITALIA MEATBALLS

Sometimes reinventing the wheel is a fun challenge, and other times it’s good to stick with the tried and tested recipes.  This is a classic dish, with a little twist of using Chicken Italia burgers cut into quarters to make simple chicken meatballs instead of beef.  A lighter and leaner version!  Dish up onto heart shaped plates for a Valentine’s Day treat #loveisHeck

Tagli-italia Meatballs

Serves 2

Ingredients

1 pack HECK Chicken Italia burgers

½ onion

½ tsp lazy garlic

1 tbsp tomato puree

1 can chopped tomatoes

Tagliatelle pasta

Fresh basil leaves

Steps

Cut the burgers into quarters and shape into meatballs using the palm of your hands.  Set to one side.

In a saucepan, heat a dash of olive oil over a medium high heat, then add the garlic and chopped onion.  Cook for 3-4 minutes before adding the tomato puree and tomatoes.  Reduce the heat to a medium level and simmer for 10 minutes.

In a frying pan, heat a little olive oil on a medium high heat before adding the Simply Chicken meatballs.  Brown on all sides and then pour over the tomato sauce.  Simmer for a further 10 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.  Sprinkle with some torn basil leaves and serve over pasta cooked according to the packet instructions.

Some fresh basil and grated parmesan finish this dish to perfection!
