Blogger and Photographer Mandy Charlton created this recipe for Sugar-Free February. Fakekushari is an adaptation of Kushari, a traditional Egyptian meal and it’s entirely vegetarian and vegan friendly too.  This recipe is a delicious melding of flavours that makes a great meal for two.  You can also try this recipe with HECK Sweet Fusion veggie bangers or HECK Bollywood veggie bangers.   Experiment and mix up those flavours!

Sugar-free Super Greens Veggie Bangers Fakekushari recipe by Mandy Charlton

Serves 2


HECK Super Greens veggie bangers

Puy lentils

1 bag of baby spinach

1 tin of butterbeans

1 tin of chopped tomatoes

Half a teaspoon of cumin

Half a teaspoon of Chilli Powder

Quarter of a teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper

Half a teaspoon of cinnamon

Salt and pepper to season

Squeeze of honey (optional)


Blogger Mandy Charlton has created this delicious sugar free Fakekushari using our HECK Super Greens Veggie Balls.


  • Cook the Super Greens Veggie Bangers in the oven.

  • Prepare some Puy lentils and then add to a wok or frying pan, season and add spinach.

  • In another pan, combine the butterbeans, the spices and the chopped tomatoes together and some honey according to taste.

  • When the veggie balls are cooked, serve with the lentils and the beans on the side
