With Veganuary just around the corner, now might be the perfect opportunity to set yourself a healthy challenge for the New Year. Why not swap to a plant based diet and you’ll be guaranteed to feel full of energy and vitality by the end of the month! Veganism is becoming an increasingly popular trend for many reasons including the health, environmental and nutritional benefits associated with this diet.
The health benefits are one of the biggest drivers of vegan diets, red meat is naturally high in fat so many people are now making a conscious effort to eat less meat within their diets. Research has shown that there is a clear link between vegan diets and lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Being vegan is also one of the best ways to protect the environment, eating a plant-based diet can reduce pollution and prevent deforestation. Plant based diets can also be much more nutritious because of the replacement foods you will be eating such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, pulses, nuts and seeds. These foods often tend to provide more fibre and antioxidants and are richer in potassium, magnesium and vitamins A, C and E.
